Juneau Teen Health Center Advisory Board 

2024-25 School Year  
Advisory Board Meeting Dates:
  • 1st semester - January 27, 2025
  • 2nd semester - June 2, 2025

ADVISORY BOARD PURPOSE: The purpose of the Juneau Teen Health Center Advisory Board is to provide community input and support for the Teen Health Center. Specifically, the Board is charged with:
  • Representing student, parent, school, and community concerns in the development of programs and policies related to the provision of health care at the Teen Health Center.
  • Advocating and demonstrating support for the Teen Health Center.
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and monitoring the center’s progress and programs.

REPRESENTATION: The Juneau Teen Health Center Advisory Board shall have representation from the following agencies -  
Juneau-Douglas High School, Yaakoosgé Daakahidi High School, City and Borough of Juneau, SEARHC, Juneau Public Health Center, NAMI-Juneau, a JSD school Board liaison, community medical providers, parents and youth from Juneau's high schools.

BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES: Board members serve in an advisory role to the agencies coordinating services through the Teen Health Center including the Juneau School District, Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), State of Alaska, Division of Public Health, Juneau Public Health Center, NAMI-Juneau, and the City and Borough of Juneau. The Advisory Board may advise and make  recommendations to final policy decisions. Board member responsibilities:
  • Participate fully in the discussion of any proposed major changes in the Teen Health Center policy, and recommend for approval to the boards and/or administration of the participating agencies.
  • Keep the needs of students, parents, school, and community in mind when discussing all health services plans.
  • Assist in keeping students, parents, school, and community informed about health service activities.
  • Review health service activities and provide for semi-annual evaluation of the Teen Health Center services.
  •  Assist in identifying and acquiring public and private financial support for health services.
  • Articulate the position of the Advisory Board at such forums as public hearings and School Board meetings, and advocate for health services at the Teen Health Center.
